I designed this brochure in PAGES, which is a Mac program. It was so easy to make!
Here is the front of the brochure that gives a little welcome blurb:
Here is the inside of the brochure. I used photoshop to add details to maps I downloaded off of google maps.
Chris and I listed our favorite bars, restaurants, and things to do in the Pacific Beach and Mission Beach area where most of guests will be staying:
We also added some information about Mission Bay and areas of interest in the greater San Diego region:
Beautiful!

menus
I bought 100 of these butter cards before paper source discontinued them a year ago. I know, I plan waaaay too far in advance.
But there is something so perfect about the color that cannot be found in any other yellow paper I come across!
Anyways, here are the menu cards. I used the same font and lines as the invitations, as well as that darn milk bottle that keeps showing up everywhere.
Here is the menu:
On the back, I printed walking directions to the after party. I edited the map in photoshop before I put it all together in illustrator.

wedding programs
Okay, I have been working long and hard on designing and printing all the stinkin stationary for the wedding.
I'll start off with these programs.
So at first I had this elaborate design for them, but then my friends reminded me that people just throw them away after the ceremony..so they advised me to not put forth that much effort.
Hmm..okay. Well, if you know me, you know that I love to draw people. So I decided it would be fun if I drew out the program.
First I drew a picture of me and Chris on the front. Yes, Chris is wearing is dress blues (can you tell?) and there you have a sneak peek of my dress (yes it's short..and sexay!)
Then I drew the heads of all the people in the bridal party. I think they look like each of them, but some might disagree...(Vince has hair??)
The actual order of events is a design in my original program. The tree and tandem bike were items I was going to use in the invitation, but then I took it out. I drew these on illustrator.
So I scanned in my pencil drawings and then finished putting it all together in illustrator. I love it and I hope it makes people smile and laugh and my silliness.

wedding invitations
I tried to leave plenty of time to work on the invitations.
I kept with the Beatles theme ( did anyone notice the Beatles songs?) and simplified the text and pictures to follow 2 themes: bicycles and milk bottles.
I designed them in Illustrator, free hand drawing the bike and milk bottle.
I played around with lots of different fonts. My favorite free download of fonts came from Fonts From Peas !
I printed about 50 test prints, then cut the paper (this was the worst part), stamped and embossed the invites and envelopes with a darling stamp from Japan, and then printed each piece of the suite on my printer. I was surprised at how well the printer held up.
After I printed the 400 sheets, I cut them down to size and then hole punched them. The hole punching part was very annoying as you had to have the strength to go through 6 pieces of paper. Chris broke 2 hole punchers during the process, but my friend Kimmy did it seamlessly.
We put the ribbon through and then I printed the labels (I love the font...looks handwritten, doesn't it?), placed the stamps, and sent them.
I hope you liked them! I think they represent me and the theme of the wedding well. Plus, I think they are pretty creative, no?

for allison
So, remember the baby shower that happened this past weekend? It wasn't only for my sister in law, but also for her BFF, Christine, who is also having a girl...named ALLISON!
I wanted to customize something for her as well, so I decided to make bookplates that she can stick into all the books she receives so she doesn't lose them. I actually printed out the labels (bought from Paper Source) on the computer and then used stamps and embossing powder to create the little girl.
Here are the steps:
1. Print labels from computer (do a test run on the back first).
2. Use ink and stamp and press firmly.
3. Pour embossing powder on top of each stamp.
4. Shake off the powder (I dump it back into the container so I can reuse it).
4. Use embossing heat gun to emboss each stamp.
5. Voila! Bookplates are complete!
I LOVE how the embossing gun brings stamping to a whole new level!

for olivia
My sister in law is having a baby in September. She SWORE she was not going to find out the gender until birth...but, alas, she could not take it anymore...
she's having a GIRL! Named OLIVIA!!!!!
I collected/made/bought various things for her shower including vintage blocks, the Olivia the Pig book (my fav!), and a hilarious book I found in an old bookstore.
The fun part is, I created a line of stationary/thank you cards/bookplates in honor of Olivia. Here it is:
I think it's hilarious, yet so adorable!
So excited to meet my new niece!

baby shower invitation
My sister-in-law Karen, and her best friend, Christine are pregnant! AND they are due within 2 weeks of each other! Isn't that frigggggggggggggin crazy?
So they asked me to create an invitation for their joint & co-ed baby shower happening in June. I created a few ideas and then they made edits (a lot! these girls are picky! jk!) until we came up with a final piece.
I'll show you all of the drafts first...
and the final invite (version 16):

lovebirds invitation
when chris and i first got engaged, i was all about drawing on illustrator to create different invites. for some reason, i loved birds at the time and drew them in all of my pieces. i don't like any of the following invitations, but i thought i'd share them with you anyways. the first 2 invitations would be on Z-fold cards (tri folded in a Z).

another baby blog
oh cJ has many friends who are pregnant. her blog has inspired many of them to start blogs of their own!
mK is also having her first baby due in september. i created a blog banner for her that catered to her wishes of: neutral colors, baby animal, and the tag lines: "God's gift to us. m&s baby 2009."
well, mK suggested a teddy bear. i think that's a bit cliche, so i went for ducklings. when i asked her if that was okay, she mentioned that she did not like birds or ducks (me neither..but i do like silhouettes of them); however, simultaneously i had already created a few blog banners and sent them her way with the duck silhouettes.
just as i pressed send, i got her email about her not wanting to use ducks. but then she saw the blog banners i made and she loved them!
so here are the banners i created. the swirl not only is decorative, but it also represented to me "God's gift" of the baby to m&s.
please check out her blog to see which banner she selected!
this is too fun. can this be my full time job please?

kim-squared
yeah, well, if you don't know already i have a wedding/life blog called kim-squared.
it's my blog baby and i love it and write an entry everyday. i made the banner for it a long time ago when i bought vintage alphabet blocks. i was already on the hunt to collect them to use them in our wedding, so i thought it would be fitting to also use them for the blog banner. i don't know where the original banner file is, but the image above is what i used for it. To see the banner, visit my blog.

for ina kwon :)
i never shared with you the blog banner i designed for inakwon. i like to call her ina kwon because that's what i like to call her. plus i have another ina friend, so it makes her special that i have to say her first and last name.
ina kwon did not ask me to make her a blog banner. i just decided to one day. and she loved it! cool. check out her blog and her wedding process here.
anyone else need a blog banner? soliciting requests right here.

baby blogs
cJ asked me to help her begin a blog. she is pregnant and wanted the perfect way to share information with family and friends! i suggested a blog, of course!
i offered to create a blog banner for her.... since she does not know the gender of the baby, we used colors she liked. i incorporated her tag line "milestones to memories" and her love of trees and leaves to create a banner that used ginkgo leaves.
why ginkgo leaves?
i love ginkgo leaves! i used to pick them up all the time in japan and thought to myself: these look like perfect hearts. so i used them to symbolize the "milestones to memories" tag line.
here are the banners i created. to see which one she picked, please visit her blog: babyjohn2009.
now, how can i convince my sister-in-law to blog?
